  • Newfane went 3-12 in the published 2025 results, with wins over Buffalo Seminary, Sacred Heart Academy and Roy-Hart.
  • The schedule opens with three road games before the Sept. 17 home opener against Roy-Hart; Akron visits Sept. 26.

Newfane Starts With A Young Group

Newfane enters the 2026 field hockey season with a young roster and a schedule that gives the team several early road tests before settling into its home slate.

Matthew Maziarz is listed as Newfane's head coach. The roster includes 15 players, with Rylee Smith the lone Class of 2027 senior. The largest class is the Class of 2028, which includes Aurora Ball, Addison Reis, Julianna Lambert, Amiyah Hamilton, Maia Nilson and Brisset Lopez.

The rest of the roster includes four Class of 2029 sophomores in Talullah Ball, Natalie Thomas, Emma Haseley and Giana Joseph. Grace Seib, Abby Rutty and Bella Adinolfe are listed in the Class of 2030, while Izabella Maziarz is listed as a Class of 2032 goalkeeper.

Building From Last Season

Newfane went 3-12 in the published 2025 results, with its wins coming against Buffalo Seminary, Sacred Heart Academy and Roy-Hart. The team earned a 2-0 win over Buffalo Seminary, added a 5-0 road win at Sacred Heart Academy, and later beat Roy-Hart 4-3 at home.

The clearest preseason storyline is the roster's class balance: 14 of the 15 players are listed outside the senior class, giving Newfane a young group as the season begins.

Schedule Landmarks

Newfane is scheduled to open Sept. 9 at Buffalo Seminary, then stay on the road Sept. 11 against Buffalo Academy of Science and Sept. 15 at Wilson.

The home opener is set for Sept. 17 against Roy-Hart at Newfane High School's HS Turf Field. The first home Saturday date comes Sept. 26 against Akron, followed by October home games against Buffalo Seminary, Barker, Kenmore, Wilson, Medina and Buffalo Academy of Science.

Newfane's regular-season schedule is set to close Oct. 24 at home against Buffalo Academy of Science.
