Amherst earned a 2-1 shootout victory over Starpoint in ECIC II field hockey Sept. 11 at Starpoint Central High School's Turf Stadium.

The teams were scoreless through three quarters before each scored once in the fourth. Neither added a goal in overtime, and Amherst secured the decision in the shootout.

Stella Adsit scored Amherst's goal during regulation. Molly Zoladz scored for Starpoint, and Gracelyn Peters registered an assist. Starpoint goalkeeper Miriam Fischer recorded four saves on five shots faced and allowed one goal in 60 recorded minutes.

Amherst improved from 1-0 to 2-0 overall and held first place in the supplied ECIC II standings with a 2-0 division record. Starpoint fell from 1-1 to 1-2 overall and stood third in the division at 1-1.
