Overview

Williamsville East defeated visiting Williamsville South 4-1 on Sept. 23.
Margaret McGruder recorded three goals and an assist for East.

Margaret McGruder scored three goals and added an assist as Williamsville East defeated Williamsville South 4-1 in an ECIC II field hockey game Sept. 23 at Williamsville East High School.

East scored twice in the second quarter to take a 2-0 halftime lead. Neither team scored in the third quarter, and East outscored South 2-1 in the fourth to finish the victory.

McGruder's four-point performance led East's attack. Eva Patti and Katelynn Horsmon each contributed an assist. River Santos played all 60 minutes in goal, making eight saves on nine shots faced.

Adrianna Solazzo scored for South, and Megan Loretz supplied an assist. Paige Sullivan finished with seven saves on 11 shots faced in 60 minutes. Solazzo's goal brought her season total to three through the contest.

East evened their overall record at 2-2 and improved to 2-1 in division play, placing third in the supplied ECIC II standings through the contest date. South fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the division, placing eighth.
