Katelynn Horsmon scored the only goal and River Santos delivered a three-save shutout as Williamsville East defeated Amherst 1-0 in an ECIC II field hockey game Sept. 14 at Williamsville East High School.
Eva Patti recorded an assist for Williamsville East. Horsmon's goal supplied all the scoring the home team needed, while Santos stopped each of the three shots faced during 60 minutes in goal to preserve the shutout.
The victory was Williamsville East's first of the season and brought their overall and division records to 1-1. Amherst took their first loss after a 2-0 start, leaving them 2-1 overall and in division play.
