Wilson enters the 2026 girls soccer season with experience, senior leadership and the challenge of building from another championship year.

Head coach Jeffrey Hart said the Lakewomen return eight starters from last year’s league and sectional championship team, with 14 seniors on the roster. Hart said Wilson has won two league titles and two sectional championships in his first three seasons leading the varsity program, including an undefeated league season in 2025.

“Our players understand that last season’s success doesn’t guarantee anything this year, and they’ve approached the offseason with that mindset,” Hart said. “Our focus is on improving each day, bringing consistent effort, and growing together as a team.”

The returning attack is led by Addison Elia, who had 38 goals and nine assists in 2025. Hart said Addison Elia is within 20 goals of setting the school’s career scoring record and noted her return after an ACL injury as a storyline many people across Western New York are following. Hart also described her as a three-time league Player of the Year and multiple-time first-team All-WNY selection.

Lilly Gurski gives Wilson another major attacking piece after an 11-goal, 26-assist season in 2025. Hart identified Gurski as a set-piece threat. Lucy Madan also returns after seven goals and two assists, while Grace Smith had two goals and three assists from the midfield.

The roster includes three Elia sisters in Addison, Kylee and Colbie. Hart specifically pointed to that as a unique storyline for the Lakewomen. Kylee Elia is the returning player he expects could take a significant step forward, while Kyra Fellows was named as a newly featured player who could contribute.

In goal, senior captain Brooke Urban returns as a four-year starter. Hart said Urban earned first-team all-league honors last season after conceding just one goal during league play. Her 2025 line included 69 saves in 1,440 minutes, and Hart said she is one shutout away from the school record.

The captain group is Addison Elia, Urban, Kairi Beck and Grace Smith. Hart expects Beck to organize the midfield and help control how Wilson plays. He also highlighted Smith’s leadership, work rate, physical presence and competitiveness in the middle of the field.

Wilson’s identity, Hart said, is built around the motto “Anchored as One.”

“We’ll look to move the ball with confidence, use the width of the field, and apply pressure together when we lose possession,” Hart said.

Wilson opens with Dunkirk on Sept. 4 and Roy-Hart/Medina on Sept. 5, then meets Kenmore East on Sept. 8 and Newfane on Sept. 10. Later schedule landmarks include Akron on Sept. 15, Albion on Sept. 17, Barker/Lyndonville on Sept. 23 and Oct. 10, Falconer/CV/MG on Oct. 12 and Akron again on Oct. 16.
