Williamsville South sweeps Lake Shore, stays unbeaten in ECIC 3

Williamsville South remained unbeaten in ECIC 3 with a 3-0 girls volleyball victory at Lake Shore on Wednesday, winning 25-17, 26-24 and 25-12.

South opened with an eight-point first-set victory before the match tightened in the second. They won that set by two points for a 2-0 lead, then took the third by the widest margin of the match to complete the sweep.

Corynn Peterson led South with 15 kills and added three aces and two assists. Peyton Solomon recorded 13 kills and 13 digs, along with two aces and a block.

Gabriella Hodgson contributed across the boxscore with 28 assists, 11 digs, four aces, four kills and a block. Kaitlin Pauly added eight kills and an ace, while Carleah Alexander finished with 14 digs and three kills. Avery Oehler recorded nine digs and an ace, and Emily Busse supplied four kills and three assists.

The victory put South at 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the division. South held the first spot in the ECIC 3 standings, with Amherst also at 3-0 in division play. Lake Shore stood fourth at 1-5 overall and 1-3 in ECIC 3.
