Westfield takes final two sets to beat Panama

Westfield won the final two sets to defeat Panama 3-1 on Monday, Oct. 5, at Panama Central High School's Panther Gymnasium.

The 25-20, 15-25, 26-24, 25-16 result brought Westfield to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in CCAA 3.

Westfield opened with a five-point win in the first set, but Panama answered 25-15 in the second to tie the match. The third set was the closest of the four, with Westfield taking it 26-24 for a 2-1 lead. Westfield then won the fourth 25-16 to finish the match.

Westfield stood second in the CCAA 3 standings through Oct. 5, behind Chautauqua Lake at 7-0 in division play. Panama fell to 4-7 overall and 3-4 in CCAA 3 and stood fourth. Maple Grove, third in the table, also had a 3-4 division record.
