Starpoint enters the 2026 girls soccer season with nine returning starters and the momentum of a 19-win season that head coach Kristen Casero said included a league title and the program’s first section championship since 2007.
Casero, entering her third season as varsity head coach, said the group is ready to build from that success.
“We are very excited for the 2026 season,” Casero said. “While we lost several seniors, we are returning 9 starters. We hope to pick up where we left off last season!”
The returning production starts with senior Grace Crissman, a Duquesne University commit. Crissman had 43 goals, 25 assists and 111 points in 2025, and Casero identified her as the player expected to organize the midfield and help control how Starpoint plays.
Ashley Mainstone is another major piece back after scoring 16 goals with six assists last season. Casero named Mainstone as a returning player who could take a significant step forward. Nora Crissman added eight goals and 11 assists in 2025, and Casero pointed to her as a set-piece threat.
Starpoint also returns production from Avery Casero, who had five goals and two assists in 2025, and Tricia Ostrowski, who added three goals and two assists. Kristen Casero cited Avery Casero and Ostrowski as players who provide leadership by example and positive encouragement.
The roster also includes Ella Fritz, a freshman midfielder whom Casero identified as a newly featured player who could become an important contributor.
In goal, Casero said Starpoint will turn to a player who was on the field last season but has “tremendous goalie experience” and will step into the net after last year’s starting goalkeeper graduated.
Casero described the team’s identity as more aggressive after years of adjusting to opponents.
“We’ve come a long way and have finally found confidence to play with an aggressive identity making teams adjust to us,” Casero said.
Starpoint opens its 2026 schedule with North Tonawanda on Sept. 8, Amherst on Sept. 10 and Sweet Home on Sept. 11. Later landmarks include Hamburg on Sept. 16, Williamsville South on Sept. 22, Williamsville East on Sept. 24 and Grand Island on Sept. 30.
