Ava Sears scored twice in the first half to help Randolph build a three-goal halftime lead in a 5-1 girls soccer victory at Franklinville on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Serena Smith and Elsie Freeman each contributed a goal and two assists as Randolph improved to 7-3 overall and 6-0 in CCAA 2. Randolph stood first in the division through Thursday's contest, ahead of Salamanca at 6-1.

Sears accounted for two of Randolph's three first-half goals, with Smith and Freeman each assisting one of her finishes. Ella Monroe scored the other first-half goal on an assist from Jade McMaster, helping Randolph take a 3-0 lead into the break.

Freeman and Smith scored Randolph's second-half goals, each assisting the other's finish. Addison Chamberlain scored Franklinville's goal in the second half, with Alexea Hernandez providing the assist.

Taylor Chase made 19 saves in 80 minutes for Franklinville. Randolph's Stella Smith stopped all five shots she faced during 40 minutes in goal, while Harper Russell made two saves and allowed one goal in 40 minutes.

The two-goal performance brought Sears' season total to seven. Serena Smith finished the contest with 11 goals and seven assists on the season, while Freeman had seven goals and seven assists. Chamberlain's goal was her third of the season.

Franklinville fell to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in CCAA 2, placing fifth in the division standings through the contest.
