Riverside defeated Performing Arts 3-2 in girls volleyball Wednesday at Riverside High School, winning the deciding set 15-11 after Performing Arts had extended the match with a two-point victory in the fourth.
The Sept. 30 match began with a 25-15 set win for Performing Arts. Riverside answered by taking the second set 25-22 and the third 25-18, moving within one set of the victory.
Performing Arts kept the match alive with a 25-23 fourth-set win, tying the contest at two sets apiece. Riverside then won the fifth by four points to complete the 15-25, 25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 15-11 result.
The victory brought Riverside to 3-3 overall and in Buffalo Division 2. Performing Arts finished the contest at 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the division. Performing Arts held fourth place in the division standings, one spot ahead of Riverside despite their matching division records.
