Rainey, Gladden powered Cleveland Hill past Tonawanda, 30-0

Cleveland Hill combined four touchdowns from Jaiden Rainey and Tey'sean Gladden with a shutout to defeat visiting Tonawanda 30-0 in C North football on Oct. 3 at Cleveland Hill High School's stadium.

Cleveland Hill recorded six points in the second quarter and 24 in the fourth. Their defense kept Tonawanda off the scoreboard throughout the contest, while their running game produced 231 yards on 36 carries.

Rainey led that rushing effort with 120 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, averaging 7.5 yards per attempt with a long run of 52 yards. Gladden carried 17 times for 89 yards and a touchdown, and he caught two passes for 39 yards and another score.

Jackson Elderkin completed three of seven passes for 42 yards and a touchdown, with one interception. He also gained 19 yards on two carries. Brady D'Hilly supplied the other reception, a three-yard catch.

Edson helped anchor the shutout with two interceptions, six total tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. Leonard intercepted a pass, returned it 32 yards and finished with seven total tackles and two passes defensed.

Bryan Boswell recorded nine total tackles, all assists, and recovered a fumble. Rainey added eight total tackles. Lamont Gibson contributed four total tackles, including two for loss, and Daniel Evans III recorded a sack. Gladden and D'Hilly each forced a fumble.

The victory lifted Cleveland Hill from 2-2 to 3-2 overall and left them at 3-1 in league play, tied with Springville for second in the supplied C North standings. Barker/Roy-Hart led the league at 4-0. Tonawanda fell to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in C North, eighth in the standings.
