Niagara Wheatfield tops North Tonawanda in four sets

Niagara Wheatfield won the final two sets to defeat North Tonawanda 3-1 in girls volleyball on Oct. 15 at North Tonawanda High School's New Gym.

Niagara Wheatfield took the opening set 25-18 before North Tonawanda answered with a 25-22 win in the second. With the match even at one set apiece, Niagara Wheatfield won the third 25-23 and closed out the victory with a 25-22 fourth set.

The victory lifted Niagara Wheatfield from 11-4 to 12-4 overall and left them at 12-3 in the NFL division. Niagara Wheatfield stood second in the division standings through the contest date, behind Grand Island.

North Tonawanda moved from 10-5 to 10-6 overall and finished the match date at 10-5 in division play. North Tonawanda held fourth in the supplied standings, one spot behind Niagara Falls, which also had a 10-5 division record.
