Niagara Wheatfield rallied past Kenmore West in four sets

Niagara Wheatfield recovered from an opening-set loss to defeat Kenmore West 3-1 in NFL girls volleyball on Sept. 18 at Kenmore West High School.

Kenmore West took the first set 25-23, but Niagara Wheatfield answered with consecutive 25-17 wins before closing the match with a 25-11 fourth set. The victory brought Niagara Wheatfield to 4-2 overall and in division play, while Kenmore West moved to 4-3 overall and in the division.

Kendra Rogers led Niagara Wheatfield with 17 kills and five aces, adding nine digs. Makayla Stewart contributed 14 kills, six digs and an ace, and Nina Scirri finished with seven kills and three digs.

Marissa Selak recorded 21 assists, two aces, a kill and a dig. Emma McDonald led Niagara Wheatfield with 13 digs, while Kiara Humphrey matched Rogers with nine. At the net, Aiyana Printup registered three blocks, and Luci Myles and Amari Baker each added one.

Anniston Daigler contributed two aces, an assist and a dig, and Lydian Gutowski added two digs.

The result left Niagara Wheatfield fourth in the supplied NFL standings, with the same 4-2 division record as third-place North Tonawanda. Kenmore West stood fifth at 4-3.
