Maryvale defeated Cheektowaga 3-1 in boys volleyball Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Cheektowaga Central High School, earning their first Division 2B win of the season.
Maryvale opened with a 25-15 first-set victory and followed with a 25-11 win to take a two-set lead. Cheektowaga answered with a 25-19 third-set victory to extend the match, but Maryvale closed with a 25-10 fourth set.
The win moved Maryvale to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in Division 2B. Cheektowaga dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in the division. Through the contest date, Maryvale was eighth in the division standings, while Cheektowaga was tied for ninth.
