  • Addie Rejewski is a middle blocker to watch after producing 74 kills and 26 blocks in 18 matches as a junior.

Senior Group Sets The Tone

Kenmore East girls volleyball enters the 2026 season with coach Julie Fischer looking for experience to show up in the way the team competes.

"With an experienced group of seniors we are looking at improving our record from last season and working hard to do our best!" Fischer said.

Kenmore East went 9-9 in 2025-26, and Fischer's goal for this group is direct: compete at a high level and have a better season than last year. She pointed to experience as the team's biggest strength, noting that several players compete outside the high school season and that the roster includes a strong senior group.

The roster includes eight seniors: Madelyn Isbrandt, Madi Kopec, Lily Patridge, Anna Arends, Addison Marshall, Lucy Curry, Korinne McCarthy and Addie Rejewski.

Fischer said the program's foundation also comes from the culture being built from modified through varsity.

"Our program runs deep... Coach Fischer has been working to foster a family community from our modified up to our Varsity team," Fischer said.

Captains And Players To Watch

Kopec and Curry are the team's captains. Fischer named Kopec as the returning player most likely to take a significant step forward, and the senior setter/right-side hitter had 360 assists, 90 digs and 24 kills over 18 matches in 2025-26.

Curry gives Kenmore East another experienced senior presence. She had 123 digs in each of the past two seasons, adding 44 aces in 2025-26 and 63 aces in 2024-25. Fischer identified Curry as the defensive specialist whose presence can significantly change a rotation or the way the team defends.

Rejewski is a primary point scorer Fischer highlighted. The senior middle blocker had 74 kills and 26 blocks in 18 matches last season.

Fischer also pointed to Alyssa Kopec as a player who could become an important contributor.

Kenmore East's setter situation begins with experience, too. Fischer said the starting setter is a senior who has been on varsity since freshman year and "runs the floor with experience."

Playing With Intention

Fischer wants the 2026 team to be known for a simple standard: "Play every ball with intention!"

Communication is the area she wants the team to improve as the season develops.

Kenmore East opens at home against Lewiston-Porter on Sept. 1 before visiting Grand Island on Sept. 3. Kenmore East then has CSAT on Sept. 14, Niagara Wheatfield on Sept. 16, City Honors on Sept. 17 and Kenmore West on Sept. 22.
