Kenmore Boys Volleyball Pre-season Preview

Kenmore enters the 2026 boys volleyball season with a roster that blends upperclass experience, defensive options and younger pieces who could shape the season as the schedule develops.

Coach Kyle Horvatis’ group has several players back, giving the program a base of familiarity entering September. Everett Herbeck and Joe Cavanagh are both Class of 2027 players with defensive versatility listed on the roster, while Evan Hayward gives Kenmore another senior option as an outside hitter/setter. Kaleb Hanief is also back in the middle, adding to a senior class that includes Luke Harris and Ziyad Darbo.

Kenmore also has younger names to watch. Ryker Hake is listed at libero, Randy Schaus at outside hitter and Mason Williams at setter, giving the roster underclassmen at important positions. Josh Strauss, a Class of 2028 opposite, adds another front-row option.

The program’s recent results, as published by HighSchoolSports.org, show Kenmore coming off a 6-12 season in 2025-26 after finishing 9-9 in 2024-25. That puts this group in position to try to push forward with several players who have already been part of varsity match days.

The schedule starts quickly. Kenmore opens Sept. 9 at Kenmore West High School against Hutch Tech, then travels to Amherst on Sept. 11. Road trips to Grand Island on Sept. 15 and Niagara Wheatfield on Sept. 17 follow before Kenmore returns home Sept. 21 against North Tonawanda.

The back half of the listed schedule includes home dates with Grand Island on Oct. 8, Niagara Wheatfield on Oct. 14, Lockport on Oct. 19 and CSAT on Oct. 27. Those matches should give Kenmore a clear measuring stick as its rotation settles in and younger contributors grow into larger roles.
