Jamestown Girls Volleyball Preview

Jamestown enters the 2026 girls volleyball season trying to convert an active summer into a more competitive fall.

Coach Ken Ricker said the Red & Green have been trying to change the direction of the program after finishing at the bottom of the league for the past three seasons. He said the players put in "a ton of work this summer" and showed up at 5:45 a.m. throughout the summer in an effort to improve and change the perception of Jamestown volleyball.

"Regardless of record these girls showed up at 5:45 a.m. all summer in an effort to get better and change the perception of our program," Ricker said. "I hope that our area recognizes the fruits of that labor and that they see the next step as a program come to fruition."

Maylin Cuifolo gives Jamestown an experienced senior setter and one of its central pieces. Ricker called Cuifolo the team's leader and said she is currently the top setter.

"She commands the court as a setter must," Ricker said.

Giana Cusimano has also developed at setter, giving Jamestown another option in the offense. Ricker said Cusimano had a strong summer and can strengthen the position as she continues to find her voice.

The Red & Green also have several names to watch around the court. Ricker identified Aiyanna Stam as a returning player who could take a significant step forward, Remy Anderson as a primary point scorer, Chloe Roberts as another player with breakout potential and Alondra Casler as a sophomore who has quickly pushed into the picture. Gabriella McFadden is a libero Ricker pointed to as a player who can affect the rotation and the way Jamestown defends.

Cuifolo, Roberts and Stam are Jamestown's captains. Ricker also said Addison Brown and Abigail Vogan have shown important leadership.

Jamestown kept 16 varsity players, and Ricker said the team's ability to stay together will matter as roles sort out. Serve reception and team defense are the areas he wants to see develop as the season progresses.

"Our team identity has to be our energy that we play with," Ricker said. "We have some outstanding athletes on this team. If we are all pulling in the same direction we can reach our goals of becoming competitive."

Jamestown is scheduled to open Sept. 3 at Falconer before home matches against Southwestern on Sept. 8, Fredonia on Sept. 10, Dunkirk on Sept. 15 and Portville on Sept. 22. The Red & Green close the listed regular-season schedule Oct. 15 at Portville.
