Sophia Gagliardo scored twice in the first half to help Eden defeat Springville, 3-1, in an ECIC 4 girls soccer match on Oct. 6 at Springville-Griffith Institute High School.

Gagliardo accounted for both of Eden's goals before halftime, with one coming on a penalty kick. Springville also scored in the opening half, leaving Eden ahead 2-1 at the break.

Makenzie Richards added Eden's third goal in the second half. Springville was held scoreless after halftime, and Lillian Koszelak finished with 10 saves on 11 shots faced in 80 minutes in goal.

The two-goal performance brought Gagliardo's season total to nine goals. She also had five assists and 23 points through the contest. Richards finished the match with season totals of four goals, four assists and 12 points.

Eden improved to 8-3-0-1 overall and 5-2-0-1 in the division. Eden stood third in ECIC 4 through the contest date, behind Alden and Holland. Springville fell to 2-9 overall and 1-7 in division play, fifth in the standings.
