Frontier 2026 Football Preview
Josh Veronica's first season as Frontier's varsity head coach begins with a clear theme: the program wants to look different, play cleaner and build something that lasts.
Veronica is in his fourth season in the Frontier program after most recently serving as JV head coach. He said the team is "hungry to be more competitive than we have been lately," and the larger goal is to create a program that can win consistently.
"We are looking to build a program that can win consistently by doing the little things right and taking our work seriously," Veronica said. "Success will be seen in our record and point differential, but also in whether we have instilled the correct habits in our underclassmen to win in future seasons."
Offense Built Around Options
Veronica pointed to Glen Echeverria and Jovani Grandoni as offensive leaders from last season and said he expects that to continue. He also said Frontier has depth at wide receiver, which should help the attack take on a different look.
Grandoni, a junior RB/DB, gives Frontier a returning playmaker with experience in several areas. In 2025, he rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown, caught nine passes for 186 yards and a touchdown, threw for 20 yards and a touchdown, and added 14 tackles and an interception on defense.
Echeverria is listed as a senior athlete and was also named by Veronica as a player who could have a breakout season. At quarterback, Veronica said Echeverria and Jonny Williams will both take reps, with Frontier looking for "leadership and command of the offense."
Williams, a senior QB/DB, also brings prior varsity experience. In 2025, he rushed for 68 yards and threw for 22 yards and a touchdown. Brayden Roberts, a senior QB/LB, was Frontier's quarterback last year and is now part of the leadership group after moving positions.
"Roberts was our QB last year and responded wonderfully when asked to change positions," Veronica said. "He has learned every offensive position to make sure he can play anywhere on the field for us. Great kid showing a lot of heart and dedication."
Veronica said Frontier wants to use "a variety of attacks that are difficult to defend" and described the offense as one that will combine multiple styles.
Line, Defense And Leadership
The line has two important anchors in Noah Greger and Daniel Ejbisz. Veronica called both returning starters and trusted pieces up front.
Ejbisz, a junior OL/DL, recorded 15 tackles and one tackle for loss in 2025. Greger is listed as a senior OL/DL, and the two are part of the foundation for a team trying to play with better technique and consistency.
Defensively, Veronica wants Frontier to be assignment-sound and physical at the point of contact. He said the defense will mix even and odd fronts and should be "full of great tacklers who know their alignment and assignment on every play."
Dinari Davis, a junior WR/DB, is a new contributor Veronica wants readers to know. Sal Gugliemi, a senior WR/DB, was named as a special-teams player who could make a difference.
Veronica listed Echeverria, Greger, Williams, Roberts and Martin Fasciana as primary leaders. Fasciana is listed as a junior TE/LB, giving Frontier another underclassman voice in a leadership group that stretches across position groups.
Schedule Landmarks
Frontier is scheduled to open Sept. 4 at home against Sweet Home, then visit Clarence on Sept. 11.
The schedule continues with a Sept. 19 home game against Orchard Park, followed by road trips to Niagara Wheatfield on Sept. 25 and Williamsville North on Oct. 2.
Frontier returns home for West Seneca West on Oct. 9 and Kenmore West on Oct. 16 before closing the regular-season schedule Oct. 23 at Hamburg.
For Veronica, the central question is whether Frontier can turn a fresh start into a new standard.
"With a new head coach -- is it the same old Frontier?" Veronica said. "Or is this program ready to take a leap?"
