Crissman's two goals lift Starpoint past Hamburg, 3-2

Grace Crissman scored twice, including the go-ahead goal in the second half, as Starpoint came back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Hamburg 3-2 in girls soccer Monday at Hamburg Central High School's Howe Field Turf.

Crissman also had an assist, while Ashley Mainstone contributed a goal and an assist. Kaelan Bevilacqua made 14 saves in 80 minutes for Starpoint, who improved to 10-1 overall and 8-0 in ECIC 2.

Hamburg took a 2-0 lead on two first-half goals by Lillian McCabe. Anna Bish assisted on McCabe's goal with 35:00 remaining, and McCabe scored again with 25:00 left in the half.

Starpoint answered before halftime. Crissman scored off a Gianna Prezioso assist with 12:11 remaining, then set up Mainstone for the equalizer with 9:21 left. The teams went into halftime tied 2-2.

Mainstone assisted on Crissman's second goal with 29:41 remaining in the second half, putting Starpoint ahead for good. Starpoint held Hamburg scoreless after halftime to complete the comeback.

Michaela Neudeck made nine saves in 80 minutes for Hamburg. Bevilacqua faced 16 shots, while Neudeck faced 12.

Through the contest, Crissman had 21 goals and 13 assists for 55 points this season. Mainstone had 14 goals and seven assists for 35 points. McCabe's season totals stood at eight goals and five assists for 21 points.

Starpoint held first place in ECIC 2, ahead of Williamsville East at 7-1 in the division. Hamburg stood third at 4-4 in division play and 6-5-1-1 overall.
