Cattaraugus-Little Valley Leans On Familiar Varsity Core

Cattaraugus-Little Valley enters the 2026 girls volleyball season with experience at the center of its outlook.

Coach Kim Jones, who is in her ninth year as varsity head coach, said the group includes four four-year varsity players.

"We are looking forward to having a successful season, we have 4, 4 year varsity players," Jones said.

The program is coming off a 15-4 season in 2025-26. Jones' view of the 2026 group starts with chemistry.

She called "overall great team chemistry" the team's biggest strength and said the next step is "aiming for high communication."

Jones wants Cattaraugus-Little Valley to be known for persistence.

"We want to be known as a hardworking team that doesn't give up," Jones said.

Riley And Carly Preston Named Captains

Jones identified Riley Preston and Carly Preston as captains, both senior outside hitters.

Riley Preston is the player Jones pointed to as a primary point scorer. Carly Preston is the returning player Jones expects could take a significant step forward.

Abby Terhune is another player to watch who Jones believes could become an important contributor. Defensively, Maddie Rogan is the libero Jones highlighted as a player who can affect the way the team defends.

The setter situation will pair experience with development. Jones said Cattaraugus-Little Valley has "an experienced setter and a first year varsity setter looking to work together to run our offense."

The goal is simple: Jones said the team wants to "watch our hard work pay off."
