Leila Berger and Sage Webber scored two goals apiece as Holland defeated Tonawanda 7-1 in girls soccer Thursday, Sept. 24, at Clint Small Stadium - Turf Field.
Holland scored three times before halftime, extended the lead early in the second half and added three more goals after Tonawanda got on the scoreboard. Berger also had an assist, while Autumn Ruminski and Kendra Hyman each contributed a goal and an assist. Charlotte Rak supplied Holland's other goal.
Ruminski opened the scoring with 37:33 remaining in the first half, assisted by Berger. Rak made it 2-0 with 21:44 left off an assist from Kali Reisdorf. Webber then scored with 10:16 remaining, with Hyman providing the assist, to send Holland into halftime ahead 3-0.
Webber added her second goal with 34:48 left in the second half, assisted by Inara Brehm. Chloe Janowsky answered for Tonawanda with 28:31 remaining to make it 4-1.
Holland closed the scoring with three goals in the final 15 minutes. Hyman scored with 14:55 left off an assist from Ruminski. Berger followed with goals at 11:50 and 5:42, assisted by Hannah Krywalski and Isla Berger, respectively.
Sydney Seiflein made two saves for Holland. Lillie Stickney finished with 17 saves for Tonawanda.
The two-goal performances brought Leila Berger's season total to six goals and Webber's to four. Hyman finished the contest with nine goals and six assists for the season, while Janowsky's goal was her eighth.
Holland improved to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in ECIC 4, placing second in the division standings through Thursday's contest. Tonawanda fell to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in division play, placing fifth.
