Barrett's first-half hat trick leads Tonawanda past JFK, 6-0

Sophia Barrett scored a first-half hat trick as Tonawanda defeated JFK 6-0 in girls soccer on Oct. 6 at Clint Small Stadium.

Tonawanda built a 5-0 halftime lead and added one goal after the break to even their overall record at 7-7. The win brought Tonawanda to 3-5 in ECIC 4 and left the team fourth in the division standings. JFK fell to 1-9 overall and 0-6 in the division, placing sixth.

Maria Schroeder opened the scoring with 36:15 remaining in the first half, finishing with an assist from Chloe Janowsky. Barrett scored her first goal with 24:28 left, and Janowsky made it 3-0 with 14:39 remaining on an assist from Callie Park.

Barrett added two more goals before halftime. Peyton Shingledecker assisted her second with 8:42 left, and Janowsky supplied the assist on her third with 5:51 remaining.

Park completed the scoring with 10:22 left in the second half, assisted by Shingledecker. Janowsky finished with a goal and two assists, Park had a goal and an assist, and Shingledecker recorded two assists.

Lillie Stickney made three saves on three shots faced over 80 minutes to earn the shutout.

The three-goal performance brought Barrett's season total to 18 goals. Janowsky finished the contest with season totals of 10 goals and nine assists, while Shingledecker reached seven assists.

JFK's coach identified Grace Kregg, Quinn Mikrut and Gemma Jagodzinski as standouts.
