Amherst Boys Volleyball Pre-Season Preview
Amherst's 2026 boys volleyball season starts with a long look at home, giving the team a chance to build rhythm in its own gym before the schedule shifts into more road tests.
Amherst is scheduled to open Sept. 3 against Hamburg, then host Kenmore on Sept. 11 and Williamsville South on Sept. 15 before a Sept. 16 trip to Williamsville East. St. Francis, City Honors and Starpoint also visit Amherst later in September, giving the program six home dates in its first seven matches.
The returning group is led by setter Aiden Moscato, middle blocker Harrison Scherer and outside hitter Henry McLaughlin, who each appeared for Amherst in prior seasons. Moscato is a senior setter, Scherer is a senior middle blocker and McLaughlin is a junior outside hitter, giving Amherst experience at three important points of the rotation.
Amherst's roster also includes libero Alex Pisarzewicz, defensive specialist Omar Zeair, outside hitter Sameer Bajgai, right-side hitter Pranit Rai, middle blocker Andrew Kostyniak and freshman middle blocker William Lennon. That mix gives Amherst multiple front-row options and a listed libero/defensive specialist pairing to shape the back row.
Peter Wlosinski is Amherst's head coach, with Daniel Dubiel as assistant coach.
After the home-heavy September, Amherst's schedule includes road matches at Hamburg on Oct. 5, West Seneca East on Oct. 7 and Iroquois on Oct. 9. Amherst closes its listed schedule with a busy late-October run: West Seneca West, Williamsville East, City Honors, Williamsville South, West Seneca West again and Starpoint across the final two weeks.
With Moscato, Scherer and McLaughlin returning and a September schedule built mostly around home matches, Amherst has an early window to establish roles before October brings more travel and a tighter finish.
